Fatal Car Crashes in New Jersey
Fatal car crashes take the lives of over 100 people per day in the United States and about 40,000 people per year throughout the country. These numbers are alarming, especially when we consider the most common cause of car accidents which is negligent drivers. Negligent drivers cause over 90% of reported car crashes each year throughout the country. In New Jersey, tens of thousands of people are injured per year, and thousands more lose their lives due to car crashes.
With more than 6 million vehicle collisions reported annually, this means that approximately 5 million accidents happen because of distractions, speeding, intoxication, and other acts of negligence demonstrated by American drivers. Driver distraction is most likely the most common form of driver negligence seen today due to people constantly being on their cell phones, having to check their social media, texts, etc. Looking down at your phone while driving 55 mph is equivalent to driving the length of a football field with your eyes closed. This is extremely dangerous and puts your life, as well as everyone in your vehicle and those around you on the road, at serious risk for severe injuries or even death.
If you have recently lost someone you love due to the actions of a negligent driver, you should contact a wrongful death lawyer as soon as you can. Though this may seem like no time to think about money, you may be facing steep expenses related to the passing of your loved one in an accident. A car crash attorney can help you get the funds needed to cover these costs and more. Even damages, such as pain, suffering, loss of life enjoyment, emotional turmoil, and more, are eligible for financial compensation, depending on the uniqueness of your case.
