New Jersey Pedestrian Accidents

Atlantic City, NJ - 5-Year-Old Girl Pinned Under SUV in Crash on N Montpelier AvePedestrians are often more severely injured than other people who become involved in traffic accidents. Thousands of people are hurt in pedestrian crashes every year in the United States. On average, over 5,000 fatalities are reported per year due to pedestrian collisions in the United States. Unfortunately, distracted driving is the main cause of pedestrian accidents. Drivers are often distracted, intoxicated, fatigued, or traveling at unsafe speeds, which directly results in accidents regularly.

Every single day, over 17,000 auto accidents are reported in the United States. In these crashes, more than 7,500 people sustain injuries. Alarmingly, the majority of vehicle collisions in the United States are caused by driver negligence. This means that each year, millions of car crashes happen due to the actions of negligent drivers. Statistics show that over 6 million vehicle accidents happen in the US per year. About 3 million people suffer injuries in these crashes, while more than 40,000 lose their lives.

In New Jersey, hundreds of thousands of car crashes are reported annually. A percentage of these involve pedestrians. Pedestrian travel is dangerous because they have little to no protection against the force of fast, heavy vehicles. When a pedestrian is injured in a traffic accident, they often have to spend time in the hospital recovering, which can be stressful and exhausting. The average cost of sustaining a severe injury in a pedestrian crash ranges in tens of thousands of dollars.
