Bayside, N.Y. (March 12, 2019) – A pedestrian was injured and a driver was arrested after a pedestrian collision on Monday. The New York pedestrian accident occurred around 11:36 a.m. in Queens, at the intersection of 46th Avenue and 215th Place.
The accident occurred when the driver, 53-year-old Tsz Pun, was driving south on 215th Place and turned left onto 46th Avenue. As Pun turned, he hit a 59-year old unidentified pedestrian who was crossing the street at the time. The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and received severe head injuries, according to police. He was then taken to Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
An investigation performed by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad revealed that Pun failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian, which caused the accident. Pun was charged with failure to yield and failure to exercise due care.
