Bergen County, NJ – Woman Killed After Vehicle Struck by Train on W Central Ave
Bergen County, NJ (July 3, 2023) – Early on Sunday morning, July 2, an unidentified woman tragically lost her life in a collision with a freight train that occurred in Bergen County. According to reports, the deadly incident took place in the vicinity of West Central Avenue at around 1:00 a.m.
Official police reports show that a woman was driving a passenger vehicle when she was struck by a CSX freight train in Bergenfield. Identified only as a 42-year-old mother of two, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.
Crews at the crash site shut down Columbia Avenue and West Central Avenue railroad crossings. The closure of the crossings was done as part of an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash.
