Berkeley Heights, NJ (July 5, 2021) – Authorities in Union County were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in Berkeley Heights on Friday afternoon that claimed an elderly pedestrian’s life. At approximately 12:50 p.m., on July 2, emergency crews were called to the scene of an accident on Locust Avenue.
Reports provided by authorities show that a 73-year-old pedestrian was traveling in the parking lot of a YMCA located at 59 Locust Avenue. For unknown reasons, the pedestrian was struck by an unidentified vehicle.
The pedestrian sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Authorities arrived at the scene and declared the victim deceased. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. At this time, investigations surrounding the cause of the accident are underway.
