Borough Park, NY – Cop Car Flattens Pedestrian on 13th AveNY/NJ Legal News
Borough Park, NY (September 11, 2019) – A patrol car that was responding to a call crashed into another vehicle and ran over a group of pedestrians in Brooklyn, pinning one to a storefront on Sunday, September 8th.
The NYPD vehicle went careening through a red light with its lights flashing when it was T-boned at the intersection of 13th Avenue and 52nd Street by a Honda Odyssey. The driver of the police car lost control of the vehicle and jumped a curb. A group of women and men that were on the sidewalk were hit.
Fortunately, no one was critically injured during the terrifying accident. A woman was pinned by the police car near the front of a health-food store called Landau’s Health Tree.
The driver of the Honda and the two injured victims, both 18-year-old women, were taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where the two pedestrians were treated for neck and back injuries.
The two police officers were transported to the same hospital, also for back and neck injuries.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Pedestrian-Involved Accidents in Borough Park
More often than not, pedestrian-involved accidents have outcomes that are devastating to both the victim and their family. Due to the fact that pedestrians have no protective gear, they are extremely vulnerable to cars on the road. When the two collide, sadly, there are liable to be several different injuries or even a fatality.
If you’ve been hit by a vehicle while you were on foot and in a marked crosswalk or on a sidewalk, it is crucial that you receive medical treatment for your injuries immediately following the accident, because this will help you later on if you have to go to court.
If you have been involved in any type of accident, it is in your best interest to confer with a personal injury attorney before you speak to anyone else. The driver’s insurance company will typically try to get you to settle the claim for the smallest amount of money possible. Your personal injury attorney will have the skill and the knowledge to make sure you don’t get taken advantage of.
If you or someone you love has been injured or killed in a pedestrian-involved accident then you may have a right to financial compensation to cover any damages such as hospital bills, lost wages due to time away from work, pain and suffering, or even wrongful death. Here at Metro Law, we will stand by your side throughout your case and make sure your rights are protected.
