Motorized Bike Accidents in New Jersey
Recently, a study was conducted on the safety of motorized bikes. It exclusively examined motorcycle safety across the state. The Department of Transportation gathered the data used in the report, which showed that the state had witnessed the smallest number of motorized bike deaths since 1998.
Accidents are statistically much more likely to take place in the afternoon and evening, with weekends being the days with the highest mortality rates. The rate of fatal accidents also rose substantially during the summer months.
The report’s contributors also detected some obvious risk factors where fatal crashes were concerned:
- Licensed drivers: 43% of deaths involved an unlicensed operator
- Age: Roughly 56% of deaths were riders 35-years-old or younger
- Sex: Nearly 100% of those who died in motorized bike accidents were men
