Bronx, N.Y. – Man Dies After Attempting to Help Crash Victim on Cross Bronx ExpresswayRobert A. Solomon, P.C.
Bronx, N.Y. (February 12, 2019) – A man has died after trying to help a woman who was injured in a crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway early Monday morning. The deadly New York pedestrian accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. and involved multiple vehicles.
The victim, 28-year-old Jaquan Cesar, came upon a two-car fender bender while on the Expressway and decided to stop and help one of the women involved in the accident. Cesar was a dialysis technician and had training in CPR, which is what officials and family think prompted him to stop and help.
The two-vehicle fender bender involved a 2015 Mercedes Benz, driven by a 24-year-old woman, which had rear-ended a 2012 GMC in the eastbound lanes. Cesar had gotten out of his car to help the woman in the Mercedes. At this point, a 2013 BMW, driven by a 28-year-old man, rear-ended the Mercedes, which caused Caser to be launched over a concrete barrier and onto the westbound traffic side. After landing, a vehicle hit Cesar and then left the scene. Police declared Cesar dead at the scene.
Four other people were injured in this accident, including a 22-year old driver who was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
We would like to send our condolences to the family who has lost their loved one in this accident. We wish you a time of healing, love, and comfort as you take the time you need to recover from your loss.
