Brooklyn, NY – Hit & Run Driver Hits & Injures Mom, Four Kids on Avenue J near New York Ave

Brooklyn, NY (December 1, 2022) – A hit-and-run driver reportedly struck a mother and her four young children on Wednesday night in Brooklyn. Police and witnesses reported that the driver sped through school bus stop signs and collided with the family of five before leaving the scene. 

The 41-year-old mother, traveling with a baby stroller, was collecting two of her children from the school bus stop at the corner of Avenue J and New York Avenue in Midwood when the driver crashed into the family just before 5:00 p.m., authorities said. 

Witness statements reveal that the stroller was lying on the ground after the crash. All five victims, including four children, ages 8, 5, 1, and 3, along with their mother, were taken to a local hospital with injuries. Some of the kids were in the midst of getting off the bus when they were struck by the driver. 

The woman ended up pinned under the bus, screaming for help, according to information from reports. The driver fled the scene, however, the vehicle was recovered a short time later, unoccupied. Witnesses reported that a woman fled the vehicle. 

Authorities in Brooklyn continue to investigate.
