Brooklyn, NY - Motorcyclist Injured in Wreck on Ocean Pkwy near Quentin RdMotorcycle accidents often end in serious injuries or even fatalities for the motorcyclist. This is mostly due to the fact that motorcyclists travel with little to no protection against the force of fast, heavy vehicles. The main reason motorcycle collisions happen in New Jersey is drivers failing to see motorcyclists. This normally suggests negligence, as drivers are expected to check their blind spots before changing lanes or turning. When drivers fail to notice motorcyclists, it becomes virtually impossible for them to react in time in order to prevent a crash from occurring.

Statistics gathered by the government in New Jersey outline the fact that more an 50 motorcycle crashes occurred in 2018 that took the life of the involved biker. These collisions and other non-fatal accidents involving motorcyclists happened for a plethora of reasons. Actually, approximately 70% of all motorcycle wrecks happen because of drivers who fail to see the motorcyclist. These accidents and other non-fatal collisions involving motorcyclists were caused by several different problems. Nearly half of all motorcycle crashes happen at intersections. In actuality, almost 70% of all motorcycle accidents are caused by drivers who fail to see the motorcycle rider.

For example, a lot of motorcycle accidents that happen are due to drivers who are intoxicated. These incidents sometimes involve intoxicated motorcyclists; however, the overwhelming majority are caused by the drivers of passenger vehicles.

Speed is also a common factor in the causation of numerous motorcycle wrecks. If the driver of any vehicle is traveling at unsafe speeds, they are placing everyone they encounter at serious risk of sustaining injuries or worse. If a motorcyclist was also speeding, it may be considered a contributing factor, but may not be found to be the defining cause of the collision.

Other common causes of motorcycle collisions include traffic violations, such as texting and driving, failing to stop at stop signs or traffic lights, and failing to yield the right of way.
