New York Traffic Collisions
Structure fires happen hundreds of thousands of times per year in the United States. In New York specifically, over 25,000 are reported annually. These fires cause numerous people to sustain injuries and lose their lives per year. Some of the main reasons these fires happen include:
- Faulty appliances
- Outdated electrical wiring
- Damaged or improperly installed gas lines
- Clogged chimney flues
- Defective boilers or furnaces
Along with establishing the source of the blaze, it is vital to figure out if the action or inaction of a third party caused the fire or caused a building occupant to be unable to safely leave the premises.
Some common factors that a fire injury attorney in New Jersey will investigate are whether or not :
- The manager or owner of the property adhered to current fire and building codes
- Proper fire safety tools and equipment were on site
- Fireplaces and vents were adequately maintained
- Fire escapes and exits were available and functioning
- Fire doors were being used
- Smoke detectors were correctly installed, tested, and working
- Firewalls were properly built and placed
If it is determined that a fire or the inability to respond to one in a safe manner was caused by the action or inaction of a third party, an injured victim might have a legitimate claim against the negligent company or individual.
Oftentimes, people suffer burn injuries due to the careless and negligent actions of landlords, property owners, product manufacturers, contractors, and building managers. When victims are injured in accidents, due to the negligent behavior of other people, they may qualify for financial compensation when they file a personal injury claim with an attorney.
These claims allow injured individuals to collect full and fair compensation for medical costs, wage loss, and more. Sometimes, injured parties can reach out to a personal injury lawyer to get the justice they deserve. They may even be eligible for non-economic damages like pain, suffering, emotional turmoil, and other damages.
