Pedestrian Crashes in New York
Pedestrian crashes in New Jersey take the lives of countless people each year. In comparison to other types of vehicle collisions, those involving pedestrians are often far more serious. Many of these accidents result in fatal injuries for those involved.
One of the main reasons why pedestrian accidents are typically more devastating is the fact that pedestrians do not have any protection during crashes. As a result, they are left completely vulnerable to the impact.
Additionally, pedestrians are more likely to be struck at high speeds. The majority of pedestrian accidents take place during dark conditions. As a result, drivers are unlikely to be able to see pedestrians until it is too late. However, it should be noted that low-speed pedestrian crashes can be devastating as well.
Many pedestrian accidents take place due to drivers who are distracted. Drivers who are texting, talking on the phone, or otherwise not paying attention to the road are more likely to hit a pedestrian than a driver who is paying attention.
