Tractor-Trailer Accidents in New Jersey
In New Jersey, tractor-trailers and passenger vehicles share the roadways every day. Being involved in a tractor-trailer accident is very different from a standard car accident. Colliding with a small passenger vehicle can cause serious or even lethal injuries. When you factor in the enormous weight and size of a tractor-trailer and place an untrained or fatigued driver behind the wheel, a devastating accident is not far behind.
Understandably, people think their insurance carrier will take care of them, and why shouldn’t they? After all, you dutifully pay your premiums each month, ensuring that your end of the bargain is upheld. You believed that, if you ever needed financial assistance because of an accident, they would step up and do their job.
This, however, is not usually the case. It’s important to keep in mind that insurance companies are for-profit businesses and paying you a lot of money, whether it is owed to you or not, is not in their best interest. Their goal is to turn a profit and the equation they use to do that is a simple one: Collect as much money as possible via premiums, and pay as little as possible in claims.
