Do Minor Injuries Need Medical Documentation for a Claim in Phillipsburg, NJ?Crews Rush to Injury Crash on Rte 22

Minor injuries after a crash in Phillipsburg need medical documentation. A documented medical record links an injury to a specific date and cause, which matters because some symptoms appear days after a motor vehicle injury. In New Jersey, records can affect insurance benefits and whether a person can later seek compensation for pain and suffering under the state's lawsuit limitation rules.

Those rules are commonly called the verbal threshold, and they apply under many New Jersey auto policies. A person who wants to pursue pain-and-suffering damages generally must show an injury in a defined category, such as a displaced fracture or a permanent injury. So, consequently, a physician must certify permanency based on objective clinical evidence.

That certification is generally due within 60 days after the defendant files an answer, which can be months after the injury occurs, so early records usually become the foundation for later medical opinions.

In these cases, it is crucial to keep a simple list of providers, treatment dates, and symptoms that can help keep those records consistent. To do so, a car accident lawyer can help gather them, check whether they meet the standards the lawsuit limitation rules call for, and explain what additional medical opinions may be needed.

Medical records can shape a claim long after treatment ends, so it may help to gather them early. At Metro Law, we can review your case and explain what documentation may be important for you.
