Edison, NJ - Man Killed on Electric Scooter in Crash on Rt 1 near Plainfield Ave

Edison, NJ (May 15, 2024) - A 22-year-old man from Edison lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on the morning of May 15. Police report that the man was riding an electric scooter when he was hit by a black SUV while attempting to cross Route 1 South. Several responders were seen rendering aid at the scene near Plainfield Avenue, blocked off by police cars and cones. Sources say the wreck was reported at around 1:46 a.m. and all southbound lanes of Route 1 and Plainfield Avenue were closed for approximately three hours. Police continue to investigate.
