Egg Harbor, NJ – Officer Injured When Driver Runs Stop Sign at Spruce and Franklin AveNY/NJ Legal News
Egg Harbor, NJ (August 15, 2022) – Authorities from Egg Harbor Township said that a police officer was injured during a collision on Tuesday, August 9th when a driver ran a stop sign.
The incident took place at about 8:15 a.m. in the area of Franklin Avenue and Spruce Avenue.
According to police, the officer was heading northbound along Spruce Avenue in a marked police SUV when another driver, Bayville resident 40-year-old Michael Knapp, reportedly failed to come to a stop at a westbound stop sign on Franklin Avenue.
The officer was transported by paramedics to Shore Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Knapp was cited for failure to yield the right of way and careless driving.
Traffic was rerouted for nearly an hour as the scene was cleared and the accident was investigated.
