Elizabeth, NJ (March 3, 2022) – An apartment fire reported in the town of Elizabeth on Wednesday morning left one person severely injured. Just before 9 a.m., on March 2, the Elizabeth City firefighters were requested at the scene of a fire incident on Cherry Street.

Reports from authorities show that a fire broke out inside the third-floor apartment inside the building located at 436 Cherry Street. Crews arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke and flames pouring out of the structure.

Firefighters went to work quickly on battling the blaze. Two people were rescued from the building. One victim was rushed to St Barnabus burn center in Livingston for the treatment of critical injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
