Passenger Injuries in New Jersey
When people sustain injuries in crashes, due to the reckless actions of drivers, they need to reach out to a car accident lawyer as soon as possible to protect their legal rights.
If you were hurt as a passenger in a car accident, you are allowed to pursue financial compensation for your medical bills and other losses just as any other injured victim would be. This is true no matter the cause of your accident, whether it was a road hazard, vehicle defect, or driver negligence.
It is not uncommon for the person liable for the accident to be the driver of the car in which you were riding. For example, the driver may be a relative, spouse, parent, or child of the injured passenger. The victim could also be a co-worker or good friend. As long as you are not listed on their insurance policy, your claim is valid.
Filing a claim of personal injury against a relative or a friend might be uncomfortable but passengers are entitled to seek economic recovery when their injuries were caused by someone’s negligence. In the majority of cases, the negligent driver’s insurance will cover the damages.
