Pedestrian Fatalities in New Jersey
Anytime a car strikes a pedestrian, the pedestrian endures greater injuries. As a result, an estimated 1,000 pedestrians die each year in road accidents nationwide.
Pedestrian accidents are caused by a wide range of factors, the most common being driver error. Inclement weather conditions, limited visibility, poorly laid-out traffic patterns, and the actions of others on the roadway are all common contributing factors in pedestrian accidents.
Insufficiently marked crosswalks and drivers who do not yield the right-of-way can also play a major role in these injury-causing and potentially fatal accidents.
The truth is that with no outward protections against outside forces, pedestrians usually endure the majority of the injuries caused by an impact whether or not they are liable for the accident.
