Franklin Township, NJ – Gerald Asselta Killed in Plane Crash on Tuckahoe RdNY/NJ Legal News
Franklin Township, NJ (January 12, 2021) – Authorities in Franklin Township were called to the site of a plane collision that ended with fatal injuries. At approximately 12:54 p.m., on January 11, the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene of a crash on Tuckahoe Road.
Reports from authorities show that 64-year-old Gerald Asselta was flying a single-engine, ultralight aircraft in the area when it crashed into a wooded area located just 1/4-mile north of the intersection of Tuckahoe Road and Harding Highway. Investigations find that Asselta left a home located in the Vineland area and was traveling near the Vineland-Downstown Airport before crashing. However, officials are not away of whether Asselta was attempting to land the aircraft when it crashed.
The pilot was fatally injured in the accident. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found the man deceased underneath the aircraft. At this time, the incident remains under investigation with the Federal Aviation Administration.
