Freehold Twp, NJ - One Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Rt 9 near Rt 33

Freehold Twp, NJ (January 11, 2024) - A pedestrian was killed in a collision in Freehold on Tuesday night, January 9. Police report the crash happened at around 5:35 p.m. on Route 9 near the interchange with Route 33. Sources said a 63-year-old male victim lost his life when he was struck by a vehicle. He was found lying in the roadway by police and EMS crews. The man was pronounced deceased on-site, according to reports. Police said that Route 9 South would be closed at Route 537 on Thursday, January 11 at around 10:30 a.m. for the investigation into the circumstances of the crash to continue. Drivers were asked to find alternate routes for the time being. At this time, the victim has not been identified.
