Hackensack, NJ – Joseph Kot Identified As Pedestrian Killed by Transit Train Near Essex St

Hackensack, NJ (August 25, 2022) – The man who died on Wednesday, August 24th after being struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Bergen County has been identified by authorities as local resident 66-year-old Joseph Kot.

According to a transit spokesman, Kot was hit and killed at about 10:00 a.m. near the train station on Essex Street in Hackensack. 

The train departed Hoboken and was on its way to the New Bridge Landing on the Pascack Valley Line. 

The crew members and a single patron aboard the train were unharmed during the incident.
