Herkimer, NY (February 8, 2024) – Preliminary reports show that a fatal accident happened in Herkimer on Tuesday afternoon, February 6.

 At around 12:30 p.m., a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica, operated by a 49-year-old man from Richfield Springs, was headed west when he crossed the center line onto the south shoulder of the road and struck a tree. That driver was pronounced deceased on-site by paramedics. Two other people who were present in the vehicle at the time of the accident, identified as a 2-year-old child and a 38-year-old woman, suffered injuries and were taken to Upstate University Hospital for treatment. The woman was 9 months pregnant, according to reports. She was treated for abdominal and hip pain, police said.
