Steps To Request a Police Report After a Crash in Toms River, NJInjuries Reported in Crash on Rte 37

In New Jersey, a police report is usually generated any time a Toms River crash causes injuries, and that document typically becomes one of the first pieces of paperwork an insurance company or attorney reviews. The reports are filed by the agency that responded, and their copies become available through New Jersey's online crash report system, though processing times can vary by department.

When someone is involved in a collision, they can suffer injuries such as whiplash, back strain, or joint pain. One important point to note when it comes to injuries is that many of these don’t fully surface until a day or two later, which makes prompt medical evaluation essential.

When injuries symptoms appear after the date of the crash, a police report and medical records can both help document the timeline of the crash to avoid insurers questioning when the injury actually occurred or if it was really connected to the crash and not pre-existing. .

Requesting a copy of the report is not always easy, and a car accident lawyer can help track down the correct version, request corrections if details are inaccurate, and use it to help establish how the crash happened.

Under New Jersey's modified comparative negligence rule, a person found 51% or more at fault cannot recover damages, so an accurate report can matter a great deal to a claim.

Obtaining the police report can be one of the most important first steps. At Metro Law, we can review your available evidence and explain what options may be open for you based on the details of your case and New Jersey law.
