Even when injuries seem minor at first, New Jersey law requires drivers involved in a crash resulting in injury to report it to police, and documenting the scene with photographs and witness information can matter later if symptoms develop or worsen.
New Jersey follows a no-fault insurance system, in which a driver's own Personal Injury Protection coverage typically pays initial medical costs regardless of who caused the crash.
New Jersey also allows drivers to choose between two insurance tracks, commonly called the limitation on lawsuit option and the unlimited right to sue option, which affects whether a person can pursue a claim against the at-fault driver for pain and suffering after a minor injury crash.
Minor injuries from a crash can sometimes develop into more significant medical issues over the following days, which makes early documentation and follow-up care important. A car accident lawyer can help review which insurance option applies to a policy and explain what steps to take if symptoms change after the fact.
What seems like a minor injury after a crash can sometimes turn out to be more serious once follow-up care begins. At Metro Law, we can go over the details of your accident and help you understand the options that may be open to you.
