Jersey City, NJ – Bicyclist Fatally Injured in Collision on 16th St near Marin Blvd
Jersey City, NJ (November 7, 2023) – A bicyclist was fatally injured in a collision in downtown Jersey City on Saturday, November 4. The incident occurred just blocks from the Hoboken border, according to information provided by a city spokesperson.
A male cyclist was struck on Saturday at around 4:00 p.m. by a Hyundai Elantra. Police say the accident occurred near the intersection of 16th Street and Marin Boulevard.
Responders found the bicycle on Marin Boulevard facing north with the Hyundai parked nearby. Reports from authorities show it appears the driver tried to turn left at the intersection when the collision occurred.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, sources said. An ambulance transported the bicyclist to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police in Jersey City continue to investigate the details of the accident. No one involved has currently been identified.
