Motorcycle Collisions in New Jersey
One of the most common types of crashes occurs when another vehicle suddenly veers into oncoming traffic and collides head-first with a motorcyclist they did not see coming. The results are, at best, catastrophic and frequently deadly. The rider can endure injuries ranging from serious burns, road rash, and compound fractures to traumatic brain injuries and paralysis.
If you ride a motorcycle and you have been injured in an accident, you are likely entitled to financial compensation for:
- Medical expenses/Projected medical expenses
- Damage to property
- Lost earnings/Diminished earning capacity
- Emotional trauma
- Permanent disability/Disfigurement or permanent scarring
- Loss of consortium
- Punitive damages
Motorcyclists are at a heavy disadvantage when they are involved in an impact with another vehicle even in spite of safety precautions like Department of Transportation-approved helmets and safe riding techniques. Motorcycle riders are the most vulnerable drivers on our roadways, and their deaths almost always involve another vehicle.
The New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety published that motorcyclists are almost 30 times more predisposed to being killed in a collision involving their bike and another motor vehicle. They are also five times more likely to sustain serious injuries.
