Lacey, NJ – Teen Loses Life in Two-Car Crash on Lacey Rd near Garden State Pkwy

Lacey, NJ (December 15, 2023) – A teenager from Lacey Township lost his life in a traffic accident that happened on Saturday, December 9. Sources say the collision took place between two vehicles on Lacey Road near the Garden State Parkway at around 9:19 a.m. The teen was headed east on Lacey Road in a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze when the vehicle drove over the shoulder and then re-entered the roadway before crossing over into the westbound lane. There, his vehicle struck a 2022 Ford Bronco operated by Keith Mackenzie, 78, of Forked River. Mackenzie and his passenger, Diana Mackenzie, 67, were transported to Community Medical Center to be treated for injuries deemed life-threatening. 

Lacey Road was closed for approximately six hours after the collision while police worked to investigate. Along with Lacey police, the Forked River Fire Department, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CSI Unit, Robert Wood Johnson paramedics, and the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene. 

Members of the Lacey Police Department’s Crash team also investigated. Police are still working to determine the cause of the accident.
