Lakewood, NJ – Three Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Cedar Bridge near New Hampshire Ave
Lakewood, NJ (October 9, 2023) – Three people lost their lives and two others suffered critical injuries in a collision in Lakewood Township on Saturday morning. The incident was said to have been so violent that two vehicles were split in half, police said.
The wreck occurred around 2:20 a.m. when a vehicle drove through a red light and crashed into a truck at the intersection of Cedar Bridge Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office reports that the car had four passengers inside of it at the time of the crash.
The vehicle careened off of the road and collided with a metal traffic pole, breaking into two pieces. The driver and one passenger were pronounced deceased on-site by responding medical professionals.
One other passenger was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she later passed away due to the extent of her injuries. The other two passengers suffered critical injuries.
Reports show the truck rolled as a result of the collision before splitting in two.
Police in Lakewood continue to investigate.
