Gloucester Township, NJ (September 30, 2026) – A Toyota Venza flipped over late Tuesday, September 29, and landed in a business parking lot at the intersection of Black Horse Pike and Almonesson Road. The accident took place around 10:40 p.m.
Gloucester Township Police Department said that, based on early evidence, the Venza was heading south on Black Horse Pike when it moved into the northbound lane and hit the back of a Honda Accord. The Accord spun in the road. The Venza kept going through the intersection and left the road.
Then, the Venza hit a utility pole guide wire, went through landscaping, and struck a freestanding electronic brick sign before flipping. Emergency units removed the two people inside. Both were taken to a medical center with serious injuries.
The Accord's driver was not hurt, though both vehicles were damaged.
Police say the cause of the collision is still under review.
Our thoughts are with those injured as they recover.

In New Jersey, an injured passenger can generally pursue medical benefits through personal injury protection coverage and may also bring a claim against any driver whose negligence contributed to the injuries. That can include the driver of the passenger's own vehicle or the driver of another vehicle.
Which policy pays first depends on the coverage each person carries. A passenger with an auto policy, or one who lives with a relative who has a policy, may look to that coverage for personal injury protection. Meanwhile, a passenger with no coverage may be able to use the policy on the vehicle they were riding in.
However, medical bills are only part of the picture. A claim against a negligent driver's liability coverage is what can address pain, lost income, and other losses. If that driver carries low limits, a passenger's own underinsured motorist coverage (if there is one) may add another source of recovery.
It is common that some passengers hesitate to pursue a claim against a friend or relative who was driving, yet a claim like that is commonly directed to that driver's insurance coverage. A car accident lawyer can review each policy, identify every driver who may share responsibility, and explain how those claims may fit together under New Jersey law.
At Metro Law, we are available to talk with injured passengers to help them understand all these aspects and what options under New Jersey law may be available for them based on the specific facts of each case.
