Passenger Injuries in New Jersey
Passengers are often injured in car accidents where the fault lies with the driver of the vehicle in which they were riding. For example, the driver could be your child, parent, spouse, or another relative of the injured passenger. The victim might also be a coworker or a friend. As long as you do not share an insurance policy, you have a valid claim.
Filing a claim of personal injury against a friend or relative may be awkward but passengers are entitled to pursue economic recovery when their injuries were caused by someone’s negligence. In the majority of cases, the negligent driver’s insurance will cover the damages.
If you sustained injuries as a passenger during a car accident, you are qualified to seek financial compensation for your medical costs and other damages just as an injured driver would be. This is true no matter the cause of your accident, whether it was driver negligence, vehicle defect, or a road hazard.
