Pedestrian Injuries in New Jersey

Lower, NJ - Eric Sloan Dies at Scene of Pedestrian Accident on Bayshore Rd

Pedestrian accidents take place in New Jersey with an alarming frequency when compared to other states. The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority reported that more than 175 pedestrians were killed in New Jersey automobile accidents in one recent year. This does not include the several hundred pedestrians who were lucky enough to survive being hit by a negligent driver.

If you, your spouse, your child, or another family member sustained injuries as a pedestrian on a New Jersey roadway, the law entitles you to bring legal action against the person or persons responsible for your injuries.

While jaywalkers can certainly cause pedestrian accidents, an overwhelming percentage of pedestrian injuries and fatalities are the results of reckless or careless drivers who fail to yield the right-of-way.

In truth, pedestrian safety has become such an issue throughout the state, that the NJTPA has put into effect a program called Street Smart, designed to teach people about pedestrian awareness and safety.

Pedestrians do not have a fraction of the protection that those in trucks, buses, and cars take for granted. This means that every time they take a walk or go for a jog, they risk serious, catastrophic, and even fatal injuries.

At Metro Law, our lawyers are painstaking in their efforts to make sure that injured parties have their rights protected so they can begin putting their lives back together after a serious pedestrian accident.
