Mamakating, NY – Fatal Auto Crash Takes Life of James Harrington on US Rt 209

Mamakating, NY (November 1, 2022) – A fatal car crash is currently being investigated in Mamakating. James Harrington, 70, from Deerpark, was pronounced deceased as a result of the accident. 

Police were called to the scene of the wreck, located on US Route 209 at approximately 6:40 p.m. Friday, October 28. Reports indicated that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle. 

Harrington was being driven by his son, James, age 33, while the two were headed south on 209. After they hit a deer, they both exited the vehicle to assess the damage. His son said he saw a vehicle traveling north and then heard a collision. He then stated he saw his dad on the ground with serious injuries. 

Police stated that a 2020 Honda CRV struck Harrington. The driver cooperated with the investigation and remained at the crash scene after the wreck occurred. Police are still investigating the details of the incident.
