Manhattan, NY – Elderly Woman Critically Hurt in Wreck on W 74th St near Amsterdam Avenue

Manhattan, NY (August 18, 2021) – A 90-year-old woman was injured when she was hit by a livery car on the Upper West Side of Manhattan on Tuesday. Reports indicate that the crash occurred just after 8:00 p.m.

Authorities indicate that the incident occurred on West 74th Street near Amsterdam Avenue for reasons still under police investigation. The woman was in the crosswalk when she was hit by a Black Infiniti sedan. 

The victim, who has not been identified at this time, was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in a condition deemed critical in nature. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Chen Wei of Brooklyn, remained at the scene in order to cooperate with authorities and render aid. 

Wei was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian. Nothing further has been reported at this time. Authorities in Manhattan continue to investigate.
