New York Pedestrian Accidents

When pedestrians become injured in car crashes, they usually sustain severe injuries that cause them to become stuck in the hospital. These injuries can affect their lives for the foreseeable future, hurting their ability to live the way they want to.  In May 2022, the fatality rate in the US was higher than it had been in the past four decades. The majority of pedestrian deaths in the country occur near intersections, in urban areas, and in the evening/nighttime hours. On average, individuals aged 55-64 are hit by cars more than any other age group in the United States.

Approximately 6,500 pedestrians are killed yearly in collisions throughout the nation. In New York State, thousands of individuals are injured yearly in pedestrian wrecks and hundreds are killed. Almost 10% of all traffic accidents statewide involve a pedestrian, with around 7,500 pedestrian collisions happening each year.
