Multi-Vehicle Collisions in New Jersey
Even though car accidents are extremely disquieting experiences, they take place everyday single day in the United States and New Jersey is no exception. You have no way of knowing if or when some careless driver is going to run into your car, leaving you with serious injuries.
To make things even worse, you could be involved in a multi-vehicle collision instead. A multi-vehicle collision is the kind of car crash that includes more than two vehicles and, of course, more than two drivers. Often, these impacts begin as a standard two-vehicle accident on the roadway. In the meantime, all the drivers in the immediate area are forced to react suddenly. They might not have enough time to stop or at least get out of the way of the initial collision if they are too close to it when it happens.
This can lead to a chain reaction or “pile-up” crash wherein a third vehicle will collide with the first two vehicles, and then a fourth vehicle crashes into those three, and so on. The overall total number of vehicles involved depends heavily on how busy the stretch of roadway is and how the speed at which the drivers are going. The most severe multi-vehicle crashes usually occur on interstates where everyone involved is going fast.
When a multi-car collision happens, there will probably be multiple victims, each one sustaining grievous physical injuries and heavy damage to their vehicles. If you were a responsible driver during a multi-car accident, then you will not be the one held liable. This means you will likely be entitled to financial compensation for your damages from both the at-fault driver and your insurance company as well.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that, since 2015, the United States has witnessed an increase of more than 11% in multi-vehicle collisions. As the overall population grows, the number of new, inexperienced, and reckless drivers on the road grows along with it. Our overcrowded roadways are just one of the many reasons for the increasing number of multi-vehicle collisions.
Our firm has fought vigorously on behalf of their injured clients to make sure their legal rights are guarded after being harmed in an avoidable accident within the state.
