Some traffic accidents that happen involve pedestrians. According to statistics gathered concerning American pedestrian crashes, about 6,000 people lose their lives in fatal pedestrian crashes per year. New York State is one of the worst states for pedestrian crashes, probably due to New York City being the most populated city in the country. Every year, nearly 5,000 pedestrian crashes happen in New York state. New York State has the third-highest number of yearly pedestrian accidents in the United States, only after California and Florida.

A publication distributed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning American car crashes shows that in the United States, an 11% increase in the number of auto accidents has occurred since 2015. As the population in America continues to rise, the total number of reckless and preoccupied drivers continues to grow. The overcrowded roadways in New York are one of the many reasons why you should work with a car crash lawyer in the aftermath of your collision.

In the past decade, driver negligence has become a serious issue in the US. It causes more auto collisions than car problems and inclement weather combined. Drivers who choose to act negligently do so in many ways, including distraction, fatigue, intoxication, and speeding. For example, speeding takes over 11,000 lives per year, while over 400,000 car crashes are caused by drivers who are distracted every single year.
