Mastic Beach, NY – 1 Dead & 2 Injured in a Fiery Crash on Pine RdNY/NJ Legal News
Mastic Beach, NY (September 17, 2019) – Two teenage brothers were critically injured and one man was killed in a fatal car crash Friday, September 13th.
Based on reports from the Suffolk County Police, detectives are looking into the single-car crash that took place at 8:45 in the morning on Pine Road.
20-year-old William Smith, a resident of Mastic Beach was driving a 1996 Lexus eastbound on Pine Road when, for reasons that have yet to be determined, he lost control of the vehicle. The Lexus then crashed into a tree and caught fire.
The officer who responded to the scene, along with the help of a good Samaritan, was able to extricate the passengers, 16-year-old Rasin Jackson, and 15-year-old Zameer Jackson, both from Mastic Beach from the flaming vehicle.
Both boys were airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. They are currently listed in critical condition.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
The officer was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he received treatment for smoke inhalation.
