Miller Place, N.Y. – Man Arrested After Killing Pedestrian in Hit-and-Run on Miller Place RoadRobert A. Solomon, P.C.
Miller Place, N.Y. (June 25, 2019) – A woman has died and a man has been arrested after a hit and run accident that left the woman deceased, according to authorities. The fatal New York pedestrian accident occurred on Monday, just before 10:00 p.m., at 55 Miller Place Road in Miller Place.
Police reported that the woman, identified as 31-year-old Mary Ginty, of Sound Beach, was walking north on the aforementioned street when she was struck by a 2017 Hyundai Elantra also heading north. The driver of the Elantra then left the scene. Ginty was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson, where medical staff pronounced her dead.
Police later tracked down the driver of the Elantra and arrested him. The driver, 30-year-old John Lang, was staying at his parent’s home in Ridge when the arrest was made almost four hours after the accident. Lang was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
