Milltown, NJ (October 15, 2021) – A woman was hit and subsequently dragged by a van whose driver fled the scene in a grocery store parking lot on Wednesday, October 13th in Milltown.

The accident took place at about 3:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Acme Food Store at the intersection of Southerland Drive and Ryders Lane.

Officials said that the 62-year-old woman was walking to her car when she was hit by a red van that ran through the pedestrian stop sign.

The driver then proceeded to put the van in reverse, back over the already injured woman, and hit her again, this time dragging her across the asphalt.

The driver fled the scene without notifying authorities or stopping to render aid to his victim.

The woman, whose identity has not been released, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital in serious condition.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
