Monroe, NJ – Cassidy Cutler Dies in Van Rollover on Rt 130

Monroe, NJ (September 20, 2022) – A local woman died on Monday, September 19th when the van in which she was riding flipped over on Route 130 in the area of Deans Rhode Hall Road.

Police have since identified the victim as 21-year-old Cassidy Cutler, a resident of Monroe

Reports show that a 2003 Ford Econoline van driven by 32-year-old Eli Szmer, also from Monroe, was heading southbound on Route 130 at about 10:30 p.m. when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle, drove across the grass divider, and the northbound lanes, crashed into a guardrail and overturned.

Cutler, a passenger in the front seat, was killed in the impact.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Ms. Cassidy Cutler, at this time.

In order to claim damages, the respondent named in a wrongful death claim must have breached the duty of care they were expected to show the deceased.

The standard of negligence in a wrongful death claim is the action that a reasonable person would have taken under the same or similar circumstances. If a sensible person would have acted with more care or exercised more cautiousness, the respondent will most likely be held responsible.

For instance, if a driver behaved carelessly by breaching a driving law, then they have failed to uphold the duty they owed to the deceased.
