Montville, NJ – Four Injured in Collision on I-80

Montville, NJ (June 13, 2023) – Four people suffered injuries in a collision that happened in Montville on Sunday afternoon, June 11. Two of them sustained serious injuries, according to reports.

A vehicle headed west on I-80 was involved in a head-on crash with two other cars near the border of Morris and Essex counties, police said. The major interstate was reduced to a single lane on the eastbound side for over three hours, resulting in extensive traffic delays.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was identified as a woman from Elmwood Park, age 26, who was accompanied by an 18-year-old woman from Paterson. They were both ejected from the vehicle and seriously hurt at around 2:00 p.m., state police said.

One of them was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center for treatment. State police report the westbound vehicle was a Toyota Avalon that jumped the guardrail and entered the eastbound lanes before striking the left rear of a box truck. It was then struck by a minivan headed east, police said.

The truck and minivan drivers both suffered minor injuries and were treated at local medical centers. Their names have not been reported.

Police in Montville continue to investigate.

We hope for the full and fast recovery of the injured victims.
