Pohatcong Twp, NJ (September 2, 2026) – On Tuesday afternoon, September 1, a moped rider suffered minor injuries after a car struck them at the intersection of New Brunswick Avenue and Barbara Avenue.
Warren County Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the scene at approximately 4:34 p.m. Emergency units responded to the scene to assist the injured rider.
The full scope of the rider’s injuries has not been disclosed.
The cause of the wreck remains under review.
We wish the injured rider a quick and full recovery.

New Jersey operates under a no-fault insurance system, which means that after a car crash, each driver's own personal injury protection (PIP) coverage pays for their medical treatment regardless of who caused the collision.
Additionally, drivers choose between two lawsuit options when buying their policy: the "limitation on lawsuit" (verbal threshold) option, which limits the right to sue for pain and suffering unless the injury meets a serious threshold defined by law; or the "unlimited right to sue" option, which preserves full rights to pursue a lawsuit for pain and suffering after any qualifying injury.
This system is designed to get medical bills paid quickly after a crash, but it can also affect whether (and how) an injured person can pursue additional compensation beyond medical costs.
The process of determining which insurance policy applies can get complicated real quick, and a misclassification can delay medical payments when a rider needs them most. Even minor injuries from a car-versus-moped collision, like sprains, road rash, or soft tissue damage, can require follow-up care that adds up over time.
When the process becomes complicated, a motorcycle accident lawyer can help sort out which policy should respond to medical bills and whether the moped met New Jersey's registration and insurance thresholds at the time of the crash. Untangling these details early can prevent a rider from being stuck covering costs that should fall under an available policy.
