Pedestrian Injuries in New Jersey

Morristown, NJ - Pedestrian Struck, Injured by Driver at South St and Pine St

In some cases, there is more than one person at fault or more than one cause of a pedestrian accident. For instance, a defective roadway or malfunctioning vehicle could have caused a driver to be unable to control their car. If that is the case, the government entity tasked with the roadways maintenance or the part manufacturer may share in the liability.

If you can show that a roadway’s condition caused or contributed to the accident, you may be able to secure compensation from the municipality or other entity responsible for the upkeep of the street. Common hazardous roadway conditions include:

  • Major potholes
  • Poorly laid-out intersections or badly designed roadways caused by flawed engineering
  • Incorrectly positioned traffic signals, signs, or lights
  • Broken or malfunctioning traffic lights
  • Obscured traffic signs or lights
  • Insufficient lighting

It is essential to remember that many municipalities and governments are shielded from lawsuits or have limits that restrict the amount of financial compensation you can receive. This is why you need an aggressive and experienced New Jersey pedestrian injury lawyer to manage your case.
