Mount Kisco, NY (April 27, 2023) – Nine people suffered injuries after an unlicensed teen driver collided with a school bus in New York. The accident happened at around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26.  

Reports show the wreck happened when a Honda Accord collided with a school bus from the Yorktown Central School District in New Castle. The driver of the sedan was identified as a 16-year-old without a driver’s license. 

Three passengers in the Accord, along with the driver, were transported to the hospital with injuries deemed life-threatening. Additionally, five people from the bus were transported to Westchester Medical Center with injuries. 

The identities of the injured parties have not been reported at this time. Authorities say the teen driver was traveling south on Lake Road when they lost control while negotiating a turn and crossed into the oncoming lane, where they struck the bus.

Lake Road was closed for several hours while emergency responders worked to secure the scene. Authorities in Westchester County are currently investigating the details of the incident.
