We're keeping everyone affected in our thoughts as they recover.

Multi-vehicle crashes that involve several drivers are common along busy Totowa corridors like Route 46, where merging traffic and sudden lane changes can quickly turn into a chain-reaction situation.
New Jersey follows a modified comparative negligence rule, which means fault can be divided among multiple drivers, and a person can still recover damages as long as they're found less than 51 percent responsible for the cause of the crash.
People hurt in a multi-car situation can deal with fractures, lacerations, or internal injuries depending on where and how hard their vehicle was struck. If a vehicle overturns, occupants can also face head or spinal injuries that require extended treatment and time away from work.
Sorting out who caused a multi-vehicle situation usually requires police reports, witness statements, and sometimes data pulled from a vehicle's onboard systems. A car accident lawyer can help gather this evidence and work with insurance companies to determine how fault should be divided among the drivers involved.
