New Hyde Park, NY (August 15, 2022) – An area police officer sustained injuries to his back and neck after his patrol car was rear-ended as he investigated a collision in New Hyde Park on Tuesday, August 9th.
The incident took place on the Long Island Expressway by Exit 36 at about 3:00 p.m.
According to sources, a highway patrol officer was investigating a motor vehicle accident near Exit 36. As he was sitting in his squad car with its emergency lights on, a 2012 Isuzu pick-up truck crashed into the rear-end of the police vehicle.
The officer received injuries to his back and neck. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
The 63-year-old driver of the pick-up stayed at the scene and was unharmed during the impact.
