Newark, NJ – Injury Accident Involving Overturned Fire Truck on Lafayette St near Mulberry St
Newark, NJ (August 3, 2023) – A fire truck in Newark was responding to an alarm when a hit-and-run collision caused it to overturn at around 9:30 on Sunday. The incident was reported near the Prudential Center on Sunday night, July 30.
Reports from local sources show the incident occurred near the intersection of Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street. The driver who struck the truck fled on foot, leaving behind two injured passengers.
The passengers were treated by paramedics and transported to University Hospital. Three firefighters also sustained injuries in the collision, all of which were said to be non-life-threatening.
Mulberry Street was closed after the collision while crews worked to investigate the details of the crash. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau is still investigating the collision.
