North Bergen, NJ – Officer Julio Noriega Killed, One Injured During Truck Accident at 41st St and Tonnelle AveNY/NJ Legal News
North Bergen, NJ (January 10, 2022) – A New Jersey police officer was killed during a collision with a sanitation truck on Saturday, January 8th in North Bergen.
Officials have since identified the victim as North Bergen Police officer Julio Noriega.
The accident took place at about 7:00 a.m. at the intersection of Tonnelle Avenue and 41st Street, near M&J Hot Bagel and Deli.
Noriega was reporting to work when his Honda and a sanitation truck collided with one another, causing his car to catch on fire.
Noriega was extricated from the burning vehicle and taken by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center, where he passed away due to his injuries.
The truck operator was unharmed during the crash, His passenger, however, was hospitalized with non-critical injuries.
