North Bergen, NJ – Tonnelle Ave Scene of Fatal Pedestrian Accident near Paterson Plank Rd
North Bergen, NJ (January 11, 2023) – A 55-year-old man lost his life in a pedestrian crash in North Bergen. The incident happened at around 6:33 a.m. on Monday, January 9.
The man was hit while attempting to cross four lanes of Tonnelle Avenue. His name has not been reported.
Officials were sent to the crash scene located just north of Paterson Plank Road. They found the man lying in the roadway as well as a 2009 Dodge pickup truck that was involved in the accident. He was struck in the northbound left lane, according to reports.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained on-site and cooperated with authorities. Police in North Bergen, along with North Bergen EMS and Jersey City EMS, responded. CPR was administered at the scene.
The victim was then transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Traffic investigators with the North Bergen Police are still investigating the details of the crash.
